Pangdan Dive Site

Overview

Pangdan Dive Site is a coastal dive location in barangay Pangdan, Jagna municipality, on the southeastern coast of Bohol. The site is listed in the BPTO provincial tourist-attraction inventory under “Nature / Coastal Landscape and Seascape.” Jagna is a port municipality with a Ro-Ro terminal, positioned along the southern coast between Tagbilaran and Ubay.

Jagna’s own Integrated Coastal Resource Management (ICRM) Plan confirms Pangdan as one of three legally designated marine sanctuaries in the municipality (established by municipal ordinance in 2001, alongside Tubod Mar and Naatang). The Pangdan Marine Sanctuary covers 15.2 hectares and was assessed in “fair condition,” with 48.50% live hard coral cover recorded in its deep zone (6–8 m depth) — among the healthier reef sections surveyed in the municipality. The sanctuary is managed by a council involving the local government unit, private sector, and NGOs.

Per the sibling Jagna Dive Sites entity (covering the wider Jagna coastline), Pangdan is one of several beach-entry points — alongside Nausok Point, Canupao Point, and Cantagay Point — suited to snorkeling and beach-entry scuba, with hard corals (spiny and table varieties), soft corals, sea anemones, dense reef fish, and occasional sea snakes reported in the zone.

Getting There
