Panglao Airport Transfers: Alona Beach, Tagbilaran, and Beyond

No Grab, no meters — how the transfer actually works

Panglao's airport transfer runs on fixed-rate vans and pre-arranged shuttles, not ride-hailing apps or metered taxis — worth knowing before you land, not after.

Bohol-Panglao International Airport sits on Panglao Island itself, roughly 15–20 km from Tagbilaran City centre — so unlike airports with a train or a metered-taxi rank outside arrivals, getting away from the terminal takes a bit of pre-planning.

The two things that catch people out

There’s no Grab or ride-hailing anywhere in Bohol province, the airport included — don’t count on opening an app after you land. And there are no ATMs inside the secure terminal or arrivals area, only basic currency-exchange counters, so arrive with Philippine pesos already in hand.

Getting from the airport

  • Pre-arranged resort shuttle — the most reliable option, and the one most hotels offer or can arrange. Book it before you fly.
  • Fixed-rate airport van — available at the arrivals terminal for Tagbilaran City and Panglao resorts, roughly 20–35 minutes depending on destination. These are negotiated flat rates, not metered — agree the price before you get in.
  • Tricycle — fine for short hops to nearby Panglao barangays (roughly ₱150–300), not a realistic option for Tagbilaran City or further destinations.

Alona Beach and beyond

Alona Beach and the rest of Panglao’s resort strip are within the same 20–35 minute fixed-rate van window as the airport-to-resort transfer generally. If your itinerary continues past Panglao — to Tagbilaran’s ferry port for an onward island-hop, or further into the countryside — budget the extra 30–45 minutes for bridge traffic between Panglao Island and the mainland, especially during peak hours.

For the return trip to the airport, the same fixed-rate van or a pre-arranged resort shuttle works in reverse — build in the bridge-traffic buffer on the way back too, particularly for an early or tightly-connected flight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there Grab at Bohol-Panglao Airport?
No. GrabCar and GrabTaxi do not operate anywhere in Bohol province, including the airport. Arrange a resort shuttle in advance or use the fixed-rate tourist vans at the arrivals terminal.
How long does the transfer from the airport take?
Airport-to-Panglao-resort transfers are generally 20–35 minutes depending on the specific resort. Airport-to-Tagbilaran City is similar. Add 30–45 minutes on top for bridge traffic between Panglao Island and Tagbilaran during peak hours.
