Panadtaran Mangrove Forest

Overview

Panadtaran Mangrove Forest is a coastal mangrove ecosystem in barangay Panadtaran, municipality of Candijay, southeastern Bohol, listed under the coastal landscape and seascape category in the provincial tourist-attraction inventory. The root systems here function as nurseries, feeding grounds, and shelter for hundreds of fish species, crustaceans, and invertebrates — the same root mass that also buffers the shoreline against storm surge and holds sediment that would otherwise wash out to the reef beyond it, a service coastal Bohol has come to depend on as mangrove cover elsewhere in the province has thinned to fish ponds and settlement.
