Cadapdapan Rice Terraces

Overview

The Cadapdapan Rice Terraces occupy several hectares of slope in Barangay Cadapdapan, Candijay, in the southeastern interior of Bohol. Locals attribute their construction to ancestors who converted elevated land into irrigated farmland generations — possibly centuries — ago, though no precise date has been established. The terraces are irrigated by water from the Cadapdapan River, which flows directly below before dropping over Can-umantad Falls.

The terraces remain productive farmland. Candijay is among Bohol’s top rice-producing municipalities, and the terraces contribute to that output. The alternating green of growing rice and gold of harvest-ready crops give the landscape its distinctive seasonal character.

Barangay Cadapdapan, Candijay, Bohol. The terraces sit immediately above Can-umantad Falls and are commonly combined with a falls visit as a single half-day excursion. Candijay is in the southeastern part of Bohol, roughly two to three hours from Tagbilaran by road.

Getting There

From Tagbilaran, take a bus or van bound for Jagna or Anda and alight at Candijay proper, then hire a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) to Barangay Cadapdapan. Alternatively, join an organised Bohol countryside tour that includes this stop.
