Overview
Rizal Cave in Barangay Rizal, Batuan, is a spelunking site known for its rock formations, multi-chambered layout, and a large resident bat colony. The cave passes through the mountain, with the entrance on one side and the exit emerging on the opposite face.
The cave tour typically takes 20 to 30 minutes. Some chambers require visitors to crouch or bend to pass through. A guide is required for the traverse.
Location
Barangay Rizal, Batuan municipality, Bohol. Located at the end of the barangay road, followed by a 20-minute hike to the cave mouth. Near Makapiko River and within a cluster of cave sites in Batuan, including Bonogan Cave and Janlud Cave.
Getting There
Batuan is approximately 35–40 km from Tagbilaran City on the road toward Carmen and the Chocolate Hills. From the Batuan town centre, travel to Barangay Rizal by habal-habal or arranged vehicle. The hike from the road to the cave entrance takes approximately 20 minutes on foot.

What to Expect
A through-cave (entrance and exit on different sides of the mountain) with multiple chambers at varying heights. Rock formations — stalactites, stalagmites — line the cave interior. A large bat colony roosts in the cave; visitors should expect the sounds and presence of bats throughout.
The route becomes progressively narrower in sections, requiring physical flexibility. The cave is described as challenging — not suited for those with confined-space anxiety or severe mobility limitations.

Bonogan Cave
Bonogan Cave in Barangay Upper Cabacnitan, Batuan, has two sections measuring 78 m and 106 m in length, with a river up to 1.5 m deep flowing through, bat guano deposits, and rock formations. Entry is dangerous at high tide.
