Doljo Point

Overview

Doljo Point is a dive site at the northwest tip of Panglao Island, in Barangay Doljo, Panglao, Bohol. The site has two wall sections: the first slopes gently from the surface to 18–20 metres, and the vertical face drops beyond 60 metres. Average visibility is around 22 metres. The northwest position of the site means it is sheltered from the southwest monsoon, often remaining calm when other Panglao sites are rough.

The point is rated as suitable for all diver levels, though the strong currents present at times mean less experienced divers should proceed with awareness of conditions on the day.

Getting There

From Tagbilaran City, cross the causeway to Panglao Island and continue northwest to Barangay Doljo (approximately 30–40 minutes by tricycle or private transport). Dive operators based in Doljo run boat trips to the point. Most Alona Beach operators also offer Doljo Point as part of their multi-site day trips.

What to Expect

The dive follows the edge of a sandy slope at 10 metres before dropping to 40 metres, with large gorgonian sea fans marking the wall along the way. The current that pushes through the point is what draws the pelagics — surgeon fish, jacks, batfish, and triggerfish show up reliably, with squid and reef sharks as occasional sightings. That same current is the trade-off: divers need to read conditions on the day rather than assume the shelter this side of the island usually provides.

One of the two sources (Sierra Madre Divers) separately describes visibility as “regularly exceeding 30 metres,” which reads as a more optimistic best-case figure rather than a contradiction of the 22 m average — both are retained here rather than silently picking one.
