Type: Sports and Recreational Facilities
Overview
The CPG Sports Complex is a multi-sport public facility in Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City. Named after Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol’s former president, the complex contains multiple sports facilities including a dedicated tennis court listed separately in the BPTO inventory, plus a grandstand used for civic and sporting events. It is one of the primary public sports infrastructure assets in the provincial capital.
The complex hosted the Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association (CVIRAA) meet from February 26 to March 2, 2018, drawing 19 regional school delegations, and underwent renovation ahead of that event. Around the same period, city and provincial officials noted that some of Tagbilaran’s existing sports venues fell short of competition standards — forcing organizers to rent private-school facilities during major meets — and proposed building a separate, larger indoor sports complex on a five-hectare lot in Barangay Cabawan to address the gap, rather than further expanding CPG itself.
