Lila

Lila is a compact municipality in southern Bohol, about 40 kilometres from Tagbilaran along the southern coastal road, occupying a narrow strip between Loay to the west and Jagna to the east. Most residents farm coconut, rice, and root crops, or commute to Tagbilaran and Jagna for work; Lila appears on most itineraries only as a pass-through point rather than a stop in its own right. The town centre sits slightly inland, ringed by coconut plantations, with a slow pace and minimal infrastructure that suits travellers after an agricultural Bohol setting without commercial tourism.

Puto maya — glutinous rice steamed in coconut milk, served with grated coconut and mango — is a typical morning food during fiesta season and Sunday markets, alongside everyday camote and cassava preparations. Lila has no accommodation of its own — base in Tagbilaran, or in Jagna or Anda for the southeastern circuit — and carinderia options are limited to a few market stalls, so bring food and water from Tagbilaran or Jagna.
