Overview

Kawasan Falls — locally known as Busay sa Kawasan — is a 10-metre-high waterfall in Purok 5, Barangay San Isidro, Trinidad. The water drops into a plunge basin approximately 7 metres deep. In summer, the basin holds crystal-clear, emerald-green water; during the rainy season the water becomes murky from upstream runoff. Adjacent to the falls is a 22-metre overhanging cliff suitable for rock climbing. Conservation and ecology

The falls sit within the same forested zone that Trinidad’s 1997 municipal ordinance protects around the nearby Batongay Cave and Twin Peak, a response to a documented decline in the area’s wild monkeys, tarsiers, deer, and birds.
