Location
Loay River, Poblacion Ubos, Loay, Bohol. Loay sits approximately 20 km east of Tagbilaran City, where the Loboc River empties into the Bohol Sea. The riverine nipa-palm habitat along the lower Loay stretch supports the firefly population.
Getting There
From Tagbilaran City, take the Loboc-bound road through Baclayon and Loay — approximately 30–40 minutes by private vehicle or habal-habal. Minibuses serving the Loboc route pass through Loay poblacion. Most firefly watching tours depart by small bangka from the Loay river landing.

What to Expect
Small bangkas carry passengers along the river in darkness. Fireflies appear in clusters along tree branches and nipa fronds on the riverbanks, creating moving points of light at eye level and above. The experience is quiet and depends on natural conditions; overcast or rainy nights reduce visibility.
