Combento Cave Pool

Overview

Combento Cave Pool is a small cave in Barangay Virgen, Anda municipality, eastern Bohol, fed by crystal-clear, cool freshwater that forms a natural pool suitable for swimming. Rock formations are visible within the cave interior.

Like most freshwater cave pools on Bohol’s east coast, Combento draws from the island’s limestone-plateau aquifer — groundwater moving through porous rock and surfacing wherever the terrain opens a gap, which is why the water stays cool and clear regardless of surface weather. The cave sits just a 1-minute walk from the road, making it one of the most accessible of these surfacing points in the Anda area.

Barangay Virgen, Anda municipality, eastern tip of Bohol island. Anda is Bohol’s easternmost municipality, approximately 115 km from Tagbilaran City.

Getting There

From Tagbilaran City, travel east toward Jagna, then continue along the coastal road to Anda. Total travel time by bus or van is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. From the Anda town center, ask for the Combento Cave Pool in Barangay Virgen — it is a 1-minute walk from the road.

What to Expect

This is a quick dip, not a spelunking trip — most visitors are in and out within the hour, cooling off before or after other Anda stops. The rock formations give the interior some texture to look at between swims, but the water itself, not the cave structure, is the reason to detour here.
