Overview

Cateres Cave Pool is a natural cave pool in Barangay Candabong, Anda, Bohol. The site falls under the Nature — Caves/Pools and Springs category in the provincial tourism inventory.

Anda’s eastern tip sits on a limestone peninsula riddled with cave systems, and Cateres Cave Pool is one of several in that network, alongside nearby Sarah Cave and Ca-Enero Cave. The pool itself is a swimming-depth chamber lit by daylight through the cave mouth, which gives the water its visible turquoise color.

Getting There

From Tagbilaran City, take a bus or van bound for Anda via Jagna — travel time is approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. From Anda town proper, proceed to Barangay Candabong by habal-habal (motorcycle taxi).

The entrance sits a few meters off the main road, down a narrow rocky path flanked by bushes — watch for the large marker rock, and the sharper ones near it, that flag the pool before it comes into view.

What to Expect

Once past the entrance rocks, the pool is calm and deep enough for a proper swim rather than a wade. The setting is unmistakably karst — the same limestone dissolution that shaped Candabong’s broader landscape carved out this chamber, and the color holds only as long as daylight reaches through the opening.
