A wharf in Barangay Tapal, Ubay, Bohol — roughly 7 km east of the town centre and distinct from Port of Ubay (Poblacion). Overview

⚠️ Do not confuse with Port of Ubay (Poblacion). Tapal Wharf is roughly 7 km east of the town centre and serves different routes: Bato in Leyte from here, Cebu and Hilongos from Port of Ubay.

Tapal Wharf is the ferry terminal in Barangay Tapal, Ubay, Bohol. Its main role is the Leyte land-bridge crossing to Bato, run by Mama Mary Sea Transport and Southern Pacific Transport on multiple daily departures of roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, from about ₱300 to ₱380 for a foot passenger. It handles passenger fastcraft and bancas alongside small RoRo vessels on that route.

It also connects mainland Ubay to Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Island (historically Pitogo Island) by LCT — a separate island municipality lying just offshore.

Ticketing is at the on-site counter or a local dispatch booth; this port does not sell through online aggregators.

Tapal is relevant only for:

  • Travellers specifically visiting Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Island (eco-tourism, beaches, island residents)
  • Cargo and vehicle transport to the island

Not relevant for: inter-province travel, Cebu connections, Leyte connections, or onward Mindanao travel — all of those use Port of Ubay (Poblacion).

Getting there

From Ubay town centre (Poblacion): ~3–5 km east to Barangay Tapal. Tricycle from Ubay town: ~15–20 min.

Practical notes

  • Confirm schedule locally in Ubay Poblacion before travelling to Tapal.
  • LCT schedules at community ports are not published online; confirm operator contact from Ubay municipal hall.
  • No tourist infrastructure at the terminal — bring provisions.
