Lake Tupas

Overview

Lake Tupas is a lake in Barangay Tupas, Antequera municipality, Bohol, listed in the provincial tourist-attraction inventory under the nature/lakes-and-ponds classification. The lake formed after the magnitude-7.2 Bohol earthquake of October 2013, when ground subsidence created a basin in a spot previously occupied by a small forest creek lined with bamboo and coconut trees. As of a January 2018 report, the lake covered approximately 40 hectares with a reported depth of around 20 feet, and the Department of Tourism (Region 7) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) were assessing it for tourism development — BFAR contributed PHP 800,000 plus fish fingerlings, and the Bohol provincial government allocated PHP 80,000 for initial development.
