Overview

Guindulman Bay Area is a coastal beach and waterfront zone in Barangay Sawang, on Bohol’s southeastern coast. The BPTO inventory lists it as a public beach for sea bathing, but the bay front works as a market as much as a swimming spot — fresh produce, seafood, and other goods change hands at the same stretch of shoreline.

Getting There

From Tagbilaran City, take the southern highway through Jagna to Guindulman — approximately 1.5–2 hours by bus or private vehicle. Regular buses and vans serve the route. The bay area is accessible directly from the national road passing through Guindulman town proper.

What to Expect

Fish landed by local boats is sold straight off the waterfront rather than through a formal market building, so swimmers and the day’s catch share the same shoreline. The bay faces the Bohol Sea, with open-water sightlines toward the Leyte Gulf passage — a coast still organized around fishing rather than resort infrastructure.

Notes

• Guindulman’s Kalipay Festival (municipal founding anniversary celebration) takes place at or near the bay area.
• The municipality has multiple marine sanctuaries (Guinacot, Basdio, Cabantian) operating along its coast; the bay area itself is the general public access zone.
• Guindulman is also associated with the 1994 military ambush site (Ambush 1994 Heroes Monument) — the bay area can be paired with that heritage stop for a half-day municipal visit.
• The eastern Bohol coast from Jagna through Guindulman to Anda receives far less visitor volume than Panglao or the Loboc circuit, which generally means quieter beaches and direct access to local fishing communities.
