Overview

Candungao Peak rises above Barangay Candungao, San Isidro — one of the taller hills in the province, reached by a clear, established trail to the summit.

Location

Barangay Candungao, San Isidro, Bohol. San Isidro municipality is in northwest Bohol, near the towns of Tubigon and Calape.

Getting There

San Isidro is accessible from Tagbilaran City via the national highway heading northwest, with a connection through Tubigon or Calape. [TO ENRICH: confirm road directions from San Isidro town proper to the Candungao barangay trailhead, and whether a guide is needed]

What to Expect

From the top, the view runs northwest to Tubigon and Calape, across the Cebu Strait to Cebu province, south to Panglao and Tagbilaran City, and east toward the Chocolate Hills country in Bohol’s interior.

Notes

• Candijay municipality also contains Cantijong Cave and Fishyallan and Kilab-Kilab Falls — attractions that could form a combined itinerary in northern Bohol.
• San Isidro is in the Tubigon/northwest gateway zone; travellers arriving via Tubigon port from Cebu have direct access.
• Avoid July to September when trails are wet and visibility from the peak is reduced due to cloud cover and typhoon-season haze.
• Research attempt, 2026-07-28 (fresh-angle, targeting the two remaining [TO ENRICH] tags — road directions/guide requirement, and trek duration/difficulty/fee/guide availability): checked tourism.bohol.gov.ph — Behold Bohol, San Isidro page (accessed 2026-07-28), the official provincial tourism site for the municipality — its “Top thing/s to do in San Isidro” section is explicitly marked “To be updated…” and contains no Candungao Peak trail details; it does list a San Isidro Tourism contact (Jinnie Eric G. Flor, 09338637112, ricflor77@yahoo.com) who would need to be reached directly for this info. Also checked Wanderlog — Candungao Peak, San Isidro, Bohol (accessed 2026-07-28), which confirms the barangay Cabascan/Poblacion, San Isidro location but has no logistics (no fee, duration, or guide info) and attributes trekking there to “Moalboal Adventure Tours,” which is otherwise a Cebu-based operator — this attribution looks unreliable and was not used. IMPORTANT FALSE-LEAD FLAG: nearly all other search results for “Candungao Peak” / “Candongao Peak” / “Kandungaw Peak” (Bisaya Traveler, Tripzilla, Adrenaline Romance, Sugbo.ph, Moalboal Adventures, Journey Era, etc.) describe a completely different, well-documented peak of the same/similar name straddling Badian and Dalaguete, Cebu — not this San Isidro, Bohol location. That Cebu peak has its own detailed logistics (₱50 environmental fee, optional guide, ~30–45 min ascent from the Dalaguete side, 3–8 hr from Badian) which do NOT apply here and must not be copied into this file. Also checked bohol.gov.ph municipal profile for San Isidro (general LGU stats only, no attraction info) and PhilAtlas/Wikipedia/PPMU Bohol procurement records (demographic/infrastructure data only, nothing on the peak trail).
